I Will Hear

2 Chronicles 7:14-15, ” if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.”

God is always waiting, wanting, and willing. He is waiting patiently, having not yet come and concluded the world. He is giving His own one more chance, one more day, one more breath- patiently. He is wanting that all should come to repentance and call on His name and be saved. So He sends out His prophets crying, “Repent! For the kingdom of Heaven is at hand!”. He is willing to heal, to cleanse, and to make stain-free your robes so that you can stand clean in His presence.

But the requirement is as it has always been: TURN. Pray, seek [His] face and repent from [your] wicked ways! It is not written as an option anywhere in the Bible. In every place it is a command. God requires we stop being people given to sin and be given only to Him. We are not given the liberty to accept Him when it best suits us. Our hearts must be His. We are called to be separate from the world. That is what a church is- an assembly, the “called out”.

God is calling. He has always been calling and you know in your heart He loves you. You also know if you are willing to listen. He sacrificed His only Son on the cross. Torturous murder for you. So, what? What will you do about it?

That is the question posed after Jesus ascends into heaven by Peter and the people there admitted their sin, sought God (through Peter), and asked “what shall we do?” Peter advised them to “Repent and be baptized…”. In accepting this God-given answer they are added to the church, which brings us back to 2 Chronicles 7- “if MY PEOPLE…” Are you one of His people? If not, become one today. God is calling. Answer. He will hear, and He will heal.
